The Los Angeles County district attorney has decided not to file charges against a teen who was arrested after a volunteering at a neighborhood watch meeting last month.
District attorney Steve Cooley and deputy DA Rebecca E. Lewis in a Dec. 9 letter told Kendall Brown, 19, that "the matter has been reviewed by the district attorney and no charges will be filed at this time."
Brown was arrested for grand theft following a Nov. 1 meeting at the Altadena Library of the Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations, where he was volunteering. Altadena sheriff spokesman Lt. Duane D. Allen said that the charges stemmed from theft of an iPad some time before.
According to Brown's father, Kevin Brown, Kendall was jailed overnight and released the next day, Nov. 2. He was to appear in court Dec. 30.
