Father Greg Boyle, best-selling author Lian Dolan (Helen of Pasadena), creative writing workshops, poetry ... and cookies -- are all on tap at the Altadena Library in 2012.
The Library has announced its activites for January through June of 2012, and there will be something to interest and intrigue almost every taste:
- Jan. 7: Playing with Words - Creative Writing Workshop Part 1: Writing teacher/author Esther Bradley-DeTally offers a fun hands-on workshop using various style of writings and prompts for both new and advanced writers of all ages.
- Jan. 21: "What's under the Clutter" - Tracy McCubbin of dClutterfly will address the practical and emotional sides of clutter and offer concrete steps to reduce it.
- Feb. 4: Part II of Esther Bradly-DeTally's creative writing workshop. In "Finding Your Voice," increase th breadth and depth of what you know about yourself and give written form to it. Esther's book You Carry the Heavy Stuff will also be available for sale and siging.
- March 12: Celebrate St. Patrick's day with Celtic harpist Carol Tatum and vocalist David Swan Montgomery.
- April 21: Poetry and Cookies, the annual celebration of local poets, takes place at the Altadena Senior Center.
- May 1: Father Greg Boyle, author of Tattoos on the Heart, will tell the inspiring story of turning around LA's at-risk youth at the Senior Center.
- June 4: Lian Dolan, author of Helen of Pasadena, will be the speaker following the very short Friends of the Library annual meeting.
Unless otherwise noted, all programs are held in the Community Room of the Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa St. .
