Fri., Dec. 16
- Library: Fun Flick Friday: The Smurfs, rated PG, starts at 3:30 PM. Free drinks and popcorn, too. Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa St.
- Farnsworth Park: "Elf". Podley at the Cottage Real Estate sponsors this family-friendly evening with the new holiday classic (rated PG). Free drinks, pizza, and a craft project (make a Christmas tree from popsicle sticks). Children should be accompanied by an adult, it's free, and starts at 6 PM in the Davies Building at Farnsworth Park.
Sat., Dec. 17
- Altadena Sheriff's Station Food and Toy Drive distribution, 8 AM-noon at the Altadena Community Center, 730 E. Altadena Dr. (Volunteers should show up at 7 for a briefing).
- County tree debris drop-off at the lower parking lot of Farnsworth Park, 7 AM-4 PM today and Sunday. Free!
- Home Brew Tasting at the Altadena Ale & Wine House, 2329 N. Fair Oaks Ave. Bring your own beer to share with others. No cost, but only 21 or older admitted. 3-5 PM.
Sun., Dec. 18
- Parking Lot Holiday Boutique: Need some last minute gifts? Why buy a gift card when you can get/give a work of art from a local artist? Northwest corner of Washington & Hill, 1383 E. Washington Blvd., 8 AM-2 PM.
- The Briton Ensemble will celebrate the season with choral music at the Altadena Community Church, 943 E. Altadena Dr. Doors open at 5:30, concert at 6 PM.
- The Modern Brass of Los Angeles at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1757 N. Lake Ave.. Conducted by Kevin Mayse and joined by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Traditional Christmas favorites and some surprising and fun renditions. This is a free concert and a long standing Christmas tradition. Always a fabulous show, and it's free! 7 PM.
