The Pasadena Unified School District celebrated Cesar Chavez this month, and Altadena students excelled as winners of the district's art and essay contest.
In art, Jordan Trice of Altadena Elementary School took second place in the Grade 3-5 category. Cynthia Sandoval of Eliot Middle School took second place in the Grade 6-8 category.
Among the essay winners for Grades 3-5, Anayeli Rodriguez from Jackson Elementary took first place, and Vanessa De La Cruz of Altadena Elementary took second place. First grader Joshua Lee Robertson of Franklin Elementary was the third place winner in the K-2 essay contest.
