- Lions: Eliot history teacher Bryant Duffy was honored as a Fred W. Smith Fellow by the Pasadena Host Lions Club, "in recognition of outstanding contributions and valuable support for dedication and service to our youth." In addition to being members of the Pasadena Host Lions Club, Mr. Duffy advises the Lions-sponsored "Leo" service club at Eliot Middle School.

- Bears: Reader Scott Smith writes us that he had a 400 lb. male black bear sunning himself on his pine tree on the 1300 block of Sunny Oaks Circle last Thursday. He left after sunset and hasn't been seen since (the bear, not Scott), but if you're in the neighborhood, you may want to be wary!
