Capt. John S. Benedict of the Altadena Sheriff Station announced this morning that station clerk Fern Tompkins died this weekend at her home in Altadena.
Benedict's announcement read:
It is with a heavy heart that I share sad news, the untimely passing of one of our own family members and colleagues here at Altadena Sheriff’s Station. Station Clerk Fern Tompkins passed away, this past weekend, from apparent natural causes at her home here in Altadena.
I know, I for one, feel fortunate to have worked with Fern and I will remember her enthusiastic and skillful support of our station. She was a very kind person who was always willing to share her time and knowledge. Fern was a wonderful employee and friend to us all and she will be greatly missed.
I know it’s shocking news when a co-worker or someone so close to us passes away and especially tragic when it is so unexpected. Please fine some comfort in each other as we remember Fern and her time here with us at Altadena Sheriff’s Station. Service arrangements are pending the arrival of her family from out of state.
