Start battening the hatches, it's coming in, the National Weather Service shouts:
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE LOS ANGELES BASIN THIS MORNING. AT 820 AM...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A COUPLE OF DEVELOPING STRONG STORMS. THE FIRST STORM WAS LOCATED OVER THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY...NEAR THE CITIES OF WEST COVINA AND WALNUT...JUST NORTH OF HIGHWAY 60. THE OTHER STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR BEVERLY HILLS AND WEST HOLLYWOOD. THESE STORMS WERE DRIFTING TO THE NORTHEAST AT AROUND 10 MPH. THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS...GUSTY WINDS...SMALL HAIL...AND DANGEROUS CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
The weather service says there will be a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today through this evening. Rainfall will be light, except that under thunderstorms.
