The art of tar: James Griffith's' natural paintings

Carren Jao has an interesting profile of Alta-artist James Griffith in the KCET blog. The painter (and co-proprietor, with Suzanne Dadd, of the Folly Bowl) has been working in an unusual medium: tar from the La Brea Tar Pits.   Griffith paints with the tour to produce paintings that reflect the concerns of today using this most ancient of materials. There's a look at his studio as he prepares for a showing at El Camino College.
