Altadena Sheriff Station Captain John S. Benedict carried the torch for the final leg of the annual Peace Officers Memorial Relay Sunday afternoon. Runners carried a torch from sheriff station to station to remember the officers who have fallen in the line of duty.
Sunday, four names were remembered by the runners: Deputy Constable Charles A. De Moranville, who was killed during an arrest in 1909; Chief Henry P. Tracy of the Pomona Police Department, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1915; and Los Angeles Sheriff Deputies Harry S. Guard and Emma Benson, who were killed when their Model T was struck by a trolley in 1919. More pictures after the jump.
