Reader Sharon has found a cat:
I was wondering whether you could post a picture of this kitty we found. The cat had been hanging around our driveway for several
evenings, meowing loudly. We took the cat to the vet, hoping it had a chip implanted, but no luck. This kitty is exceptionally
affectionate, and although thin, looks well-groomed and knows how to use a litter box. The area is Rubio Canyon Rd and Rubio Crest Dr.
We've brought the cat indoors (to avoid the ever-present coyotes) and are feeding it, but this sweet cat definitely seems like someone's pet and we'd like to reunite it with its owner.

I am hoping that you could post a notice on the Altadenablog for my lost puppy. He is a border collie/cattle dog puppy, 5 months, black and white. Lost between 2:00 and 5:30 on Sunday, May 22 near Loma Alta and Lincoln. No tag or microchip, as I just got her last night. My contact number is (818) 298-9014.
This is sad -- our daughter once brought a freshly-adopted dog home from the Humane Society when it slipped out of its collar and ran away before she could get it to the front door. Fortunately, they found her a couple of days later and today they're best friends. Let's hope there will be good news here, too.
UPDATE 5/25: Good news -- puppy is home! Let's hope it stays there this time!

He is a three year old black and white husky with blue eyes. He is friendly and will answer to the name "Smoke". She tells us that there are posters out and that he has been seen in the area north of Loma Alta St. and Glenrose.

We are quite heartbroken over here at [1200 block ]Palm Street because our beloved Roo, a female grey striped tabby, only 10 months old, got out and has been missing since yesterday (Saturday, March 12) morning. She's a very curious cat and could have just found her way into someone's house. She was last seen wearing an orange collar with a bell on it. Our 9 year old daughter is very worried. Please call at 626-798-2311 anytime if you have seen her. Thank you so much!!!!
UPDATE 3/15: Good news:
Our little cat Roo has returned! She found her way home and arrived at 4 am this morning. Good thing she had a bell on her collar because that is how we heard her. Thanks for posting about her being lost and thanks to everyone who helped in any way in getting her back. -Mary

Pamela tells us they found a young female pit bull mix, mostly black with white marks around her chest and feet. She followed Pamela and the dogs home, and Pasadena Humane Society says she has a microchip. If she sounds familiar, check out her photo here:
http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=PSDN.A284655
She is at the Pasadena Humane Society (the story is that she was found on Washington/Hill -- don't ask, don't tell!)
UPDATE 2 PM: Pamela tells us the dog -- who had no collar, but did have a microchip -- has gone home to her rightful owners.

Cholo, the ten year old Australian shepherd, is still missing, but we've received some tantalizing clues -- a dog who resembles him was seen being walked by a couple in the neighborhood on two occasions. If you see him, call his owner Gina on her cell, 626-733-3244.

Gina is looking for her elderly Australian shepherd:
Cholo left his Altadena backyard on Crawford between Calaveras and Alameda streets around 4:00 pm on Thursday, 2/17. His absence was noted about 20 minutes later, but he could not be found anywhere. Have driven and walked the neigborhoods west of lake to the north and south, which was his usual walking area.
He is 10 years old, has never been out on his own before. He is quite large for an Aussie, weighs about 75 lbs, is a "bue Merle" with distinctive black, gray white markings with some tan around his muzzle and forelegs, as the photos show.
He has a black mask on one side of his face, with a checkerboard pattern on the top of his head. He was wearing a collar and tags. I have his license number for verification.
If anyone has any information, please call my home: 626-798-3208 or cell 626-683-3355

These folks are altogether too kind: they found this black lab on Dec. 22, reported him to us the next day, and are STILL keeping him in hopes of locating his home:
We still have the dog. We've taken the dog to the vet for a chip check (he doesn't have one), made a found dog report at the Humane Society and have posted signs all along Lake Avenue. We're hoping his owners find him soon. Call 626.695.6162.
Let's help him get home for New Year's!

My son lost his puppy the afternoon of 12-23 and it has been very upsetting to the entire family. Little Jagger was last seen the top of Lake, ten pounds, one year old, black curly hair. He is a black poodle\schnauzer mix. Any information, please call Mary at 626 399-3517 cell or 626 794-6437 home.
Philip says that his son removed the dog's collar because the dog appeared to be uncomfortable, just before the dog got out of the yard. Coombs lives in South Pasadena, and his son and the boy's mother live in Altadena, so Jagger could be ranging widely.

Per what we said earlier, rain and thunder seems to increase the numbers of lost and found dogs.
Our own Gary Altadena writes:
Due to the thunderstorms yesterday our 10 year old catahoula ( dog ) escaped out the front window. Georgia is medium build. Brown, black and gray. Had no collar on at the time. Lost near Lincoln and Ventura Avenue. Any and all help would be highly appreciated.
Please call 626-524-3116.
And two found dogs, from Adele:
Two gorgeous and expensive dogs wandered into my yard today on Tola Avenue. I don't want to say the breed as anyone claiming them must describe them to me first. They are a matched pair and the female is very pregnant. Waiting for animal control to come scan them for a chip. They have collars and no tags, are well fed and groomed. Can you write something: anyone missing dogs matching that much of the description should phone me. Thanks. Lots of lost dogs out there due to the thunder and lightning. I'll keep these two 'til Monday or so, then take them to the shelter. 626-398-3470.

Reader P Goeders sent us this email tonight:
I live on E Loma Alta Dr between Lake and Fair Oaks. A small tan male dog (chihuahua mix???) around 15 lbs. wearing a -tshirt or sweater with some kind of picture/cartoon on it just got hit by a car out in front of my house. Dog dig not appear to have a collar on of any kind. After he got hit, the driver stopped and she, my neighbor and I tried all tried to get him, but the dog took off running fast eastbound on Loma Alta and we lost track of him around Loma Alta Elementary. Based on the hit, we can only guess that he *must* have internal injuries/head injuries of some kind but was just running out of adrenaline/shock. We're also hoping he was running in the direction of home.
So, if anyone sees/knows of a critter matching this description, please know that he should get checked out by a vet ASAP to make sure that he's ok.

Found 6:30 AM 10/20/2010 on the mountain side of Pinecrest Drive between Bowring and Loma Alta.
He is a large (~80lb) black dog with medium length hair and pointy ears. He has bloody wounds on both ears. He was found with no collar or other identification. He is gentle, friendly, and good on a leash. He is currently in the custody of the Baldwin Park Shelter (4275 N. Elton in Baldwin Park, 626-962-3577). Anyone considering adopting a dog might also want to keep him in mind. He seems like a terrific dog.

Reader Maureen has been rabbit-napped, she tells us. On Sept 24, 8:30 PM, between Altadena Dr. and Palm:
A woman with short black hair walked on my property and stole my Cream and Gray bunny (Thumper). The next door neighboor's daughters told her that he belonged to me and told the woman that you cannot just steal someone's rabbit! The woman ignored the girls, got into her car and drove off. Since the girls were in their back yard they could not get out front in time to see what kind of car it was.
Problem 1 - he is in LOVE (bonded) too my other bunny and may stop eating. For those that do not know that means death in rabbits, it is an emergency situation.
Problem 2 - he bites. I have been working with him and he has gotten much better. But if he bites this person (yeah!) they may turn him loose or take him to the pound! I work crazy hours and cannot get to the Baldwin Park shelter until Thursday. And they will not give you info over the phone! I am currently looking for a pic but he is cream/white body with gray ears, NEUTERED, 5 years old, about 4.5 lbs. If anyone has any info please contact Maureen at eacc.mm@gmail.com.

Here's a new one, from reader Suzanne:
Here is another lost/found animal. A bird this time. A fluffy looking parakeet. No picture yet as found just before dark. Not afraid of people - got close enough to me to allow me to slip a small bird cage over it to capture. Was not very happy in the small cage and twisted into contortions trying to get out. So, I put him/her in an enclosed patio for the night. Will try to get a picture if I can. As I said, bird is more "fluffy" looking that the parakeets I am used to (maybe young?). Also much more yellow than green. Found on Crescent Drive in Altadena. Call (626) 797-2831.

Please call 626 318-4276 for more information.

It's a Basset Hound found on Mariposa Street near Glen Ave - Young - sweet and friendly but very skittish about being touched, looks healthy but skinny as if it has been out on the streets for a bit. We would be thrilled to reunite this dog with owners. Please call Leslie at 323-839-5008 for more info or reply to leshellman@yahoo.com

Received a call from Monique about 5:30 this afternoon -- she found a German Shepherd running loose around Midlothian and Meadowbrook -- they could see from the tag that her name was "Lucy," but she wasn't going to let anyone get close enough to see if there was a phone number along with it. Hope she found her way home!
